Here we are again trying to make some  sense of Oriental Rugs and what they are. Well, as I explained in my earlier writings Oriental Rugs are hand made. On the other hand Persian Rugs although considered  oriental rugs, they are distinct from other hand knotted rugs. Persian Rugs or Persian Carpets are all woven in Iran. Other oriental rugs and carpets are from different countries of Asia and North Africa as well as some European countries. One needs to be careful when purchasing oriental rugs because there are countless numbers of rugs out in the market that although they are hand made,  they are not Persian Rugs. Please make sure that the seller is knowledgeable in the field of genuine Persian Rugs and he/she is willing to spend as much time as needed to tell you about the rug you are purchasing! NOTE: Be aware of names such as Indo-Persian, Sino-Persian, Persian Style.........! Make sure you ask where the rug you are buying is actually woven!
